Oh so true, Chris! If such were the standard practice in place today, you'd find a lot more satisfied practitioners.

I believe that the most telling sign of a disorganized business owner is not the mess on his or her desk but their complaint that they are too busy.

I would imagine that we've all had those days (and weeks) where we struggle to keep up with the tasks at hand and yet, at the end of the day, we feel we haven't accomplished anything. Those are the times that I remind myself that I need to return to the principles like those you've addressed here: identify my most important tasks, prioritize them, write them down, and post them where I can see them. Then I "attack" them in order. Achieving one high priority task is more satisfying to me than a dozen low priority achievements.

Thanks for spurring additional thoughts on this topic.

I like the requirement to acknowledge that the "disease" exists. It goes hand-in-hand with the necessity of changing our habits and attitudes in order to maintain the practice's health.
There are few things more frustrating than witnessing a patient relapse into unhealthy behavior, especially after having received corrective and/or emergency treatment.
Whether it's practice management, personal finance, or oral health, providing effective support and motivation is as important as teaching the right skills. One without the other is a recipe for frustration.

It appears that Ms. Smith's writing talent is equal to extraordinary artistic abilities. I look forward to enjoying more desert "tails" from her. It must be an adventure everyday to go in to work at The Schuster Center.

I have a friend that is an outstanding salesman. He reads all of the books, listens to all of the lectures, practices techniques in every aspect of his life.

The best piece of advice he gave me regarding sales is to stop thinking about my needs and what I can get out of the deal, and focus on the needs of others and what I can give.

My thinking has been challenged to take a look at each and every material used in dentistry today. I believe more now than ever that an organic, biologic approach to medicine and dentistry is the only way to go. I learned so much to help me in my own quest for health as well as being able to help my patients. Thanks Dr. McRedmond for a very insightful day!
